Emily Chamberlain- Head Of Department- Creative Arts
Emily is thrilled to join the Wisbech Academy community. She brings extensive experience and passion to her teaching, holding a BA (Hons) in Performing Arts and a PGCE in Secondary Education (Drama). Emily began her career teaching English and Drama in the North East of England. In her most recent role, she has spent seven years as the Head of Drama, and also Acting Director of Music, at an OFSTED outstanding girls' school in London. She also played a key role in her prior school's involvement in the Creativity Collaborative, a nationwide Arts Council pilot project with the National Theatre and Durham University, aimed at fostering creativity across all subjects.
Her teaching philosophy, driven by the belief that every student deserves success, is encapsulated in her motto, "Opportunity for All." Emily is committed to inclusivity and promoting high aspirations amongst her students. A passionate advocate for the creative arts, Emily emphasises their importance for artistic development, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and emotional intelligence. She strives to create an environment where students can explore their artistic talents and express themselves freely.
Emily places significant importance on super-curricular activities, providing students with opportunities to explore their creativity both inside and outside the classroom. She aims to cultivate a creative, resilient, and autonomous student body, equipping them with the skills and confidence necessary for their future endeavours. As a dedicated educator, Emily is committed to helping students achieve their highest potential within a creative and supportive learning environment. She looks forward to guiding her students toward success in their academic and personal journeys.
