Sparx Maths
Sparx Maths is an online learning platform designed to provide personalised maths homework for students aged 11-16. Below is a quick guide on how to use it:
Getting Started
- Login: Students log in using their school-provided credentials.
- Homework Assignment: Each week, teachers select topics that have been taught in class. Sparx Maths then creates a personalised set of questions based on the student's current level of understanding.
Completing Homework
- Questions: Students complete their homework online. Each question is designed to be challenging yet attainable.
- Support Videos: If a student gets stuck, there are short video tutorials available to help them understand the concepts.
- Written Work: Sparx Maths encourages students to do written work alongside their online answers. This helps reinforce learning and allows teachers to see where students might be going wrong.
Monitoring Progress
-
Teacher Monitoring: Teachers can monitor homework completion and provide support and motivation as needed.
- Parent Portal: Parents can also monitor their child's homework through the Parent Portal and receive email notifications before homework is due.
Tips for Success
- Start Early: Encourage students to start their homework early to give themselves plenty of time to seek help if needed.
- Use Support Videos: Remind students to use the support videos if they are struggling with a question.
- Encourage Independence: While it's important to support students, encourage them to tackle the questions on their own first.
