TWA Celebrate World Book Day

The excitement was in the air this week as, in celebrating World Book Day, all students at The Wisbech Academy have been issued with a WBD voucher as well as a free £1 World Book Day book from the campus library. For more information on this year's free Word Book Day titles and the terms and conditions, please visit their website.

To celebrate the occasion, the students took part in a range of activities to encourage a love of reading.

During Tutor Time, students started the day with a lively discussion about the characters, plots, settings and genres that they love, sharing their favourites, exploring why we read, and thinking about how stories shape us. This was also a lovely way to start thinking about how we will stock our new school library in September!

Throughout the day, our teachers shared their top book picks, inspiring students to dive into thrilling adventures, magical worlds, or intriguing mysteries related to what they are currently studying.

Finally, in our English lessons, we explored the "Rights of the Reader," celebrating the freedom and joy of reading in all its forms. It was a great reminder that reading is for everyone! World Book Day brought us all closer to the magic of books. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and gave us ideas about books to include in our library stock - we can't wait to create a wonderful library space for us all!
